Substance Painter Paint Filter
Paint filter created with Ricki Martin.
The goal was to create a tool for Painter that would allow artists to quickly create various types of paint wear and damage.
The effect can be completely controlled with the Pen (flow and opacity sensitivity) allowing for a very organic workflow when applying paint and undercoat.
Also functionality was extremely important to allow for a wide variety of effects from one tool, this included:
- Paint and Undercoat Effects
- Edge Peeling
- Brush Strokes and Spray Effects
- Integrated Utility Masks for Tinting in Engine
This filters was crated to work along side the Rust Bubble Filter and Rust Filter.

Parameter Breakdown
Painting paint and undercoat are controlled by pen flow, creating and organic feel when applying paint and undercoat.
Full control over paint maps and breakup.
Edge peeling effects.
Brush strokes and spay application effects.
Undercoat controls and Utility mask toggle, including undercoat switch, for tinting in engine.
In addition to painting, the filter can be used with generators and grunge maps/alphas.
