Sam's Barrow Blade from Fellowship of the Ring.
I have always wanted to work on a Lord of the Rings game so decided to practice up.
This sword was found in the Barrow-downs and used by Sam throughout the trilogy.
It was forged in Gondolin so it has the distinct leaf shaped blade used by the Elves.
The Scabbard design is unique compared to the other barrow blades with stitched leather.
The sword was modeled in Maya with the traditional high/low poly workflow. I decided to try out the Nanite workflow for the scabbard, which was modeled with Maya/Zbrush. I really enjoyed the freedom of Nanite and RizomUV made the UV process fast and easy.
